Binnenkort worden The Game Awards 2024 georganiseerd door Geoff Keighley. Tijdens het event hebben PS5-exclusives een goede kans om flink in de prijzen te vallen.
Op maandagavond zijn de nominaties bekendgemaakt voor The Game Awards 2024. De strijd om Game of the Year gaat tussen Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Metaphor: ReFantazio en Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
De nominatie van laatstgenoemde komt niet als een verrassing, nadat Keighley afgelopen weekend duidelijk maakte dat uitbreidingen, remasters en remakes ook om de prijzen mee kunnen strijden. Daar was niet iedereen blij mee. Tegenstanders vinden dat The Game Awards juist nieuwe games in de spotlight moeten zetten. Op social media is er veel kritiek op de nominaties.
Ondanks die verandering zijn het juist twee PS5-exclusives die tot nu toe de show stelen bij het prijzenfestijn. Astro Bot en Final Fantasy VII Rebirth zijn namelijk allebei de grote favorieten, met elk zeven nominaties. Metaphor: ReFantazio volgt op korte afstand met zes nominaties.
