Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (Xbox 360)
- Daniel "Xaldein" Everts I walk down the street, there are a few people left and right from me. I look around me, I hear whispers… HES CLOSE! I try to act as normal as I can. DAMN! A doctor bumps into me, my cover is blown! I run away, when I suddenly start to see green. “I have been poisoned by my assassin, I just can’t believe doctors would do that kind of thing” is the last thing I think, before I fall to the ground. “Damn!” is what we thought, how could that be worth 700 points? The multiplayer of Assassins Creed is great, but a little bit unfair sometimes…
An introduction is in place; I am playing Assassins Creed Brotherhood, the 3rd console installment in the series. Assassins Creed is about Desmond, who lives in the near future, 2012. He gets kidnapped by a company called Abstergo industries, and put in the Animus, a machine that allows a subject to relive the memories of his ancestors. Desmond first enters the memories of Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad, at the time of the crusades, and he finds the location of a powerful artifact known as the Apple of Eden. With the Apple, you can control people’s minds. In AC 2, Desmond enters the memories of Ezio Auditore da Firzenze, at the time of pope Alexander VI, better known as Rodrigo Borgia, who is also searching for the apple of Eden. Ezio defeats Rodrigo, but lets him live. Desmond discovers a big ancient secret, too big to explain in mere words, but trust me, it’s big! In Brotherhood we return to Ezio, where he tries to stop Cesare Borgia, Rodrigo’s son, to take over Italy… Since we’re not a big fan of spoilers (and since we already have a spoiler somewhere else in this magazine), we will not tell you the rest of the story, for that is you to find out.
What’s more interesting, is the Multiplayer. Here we take control over one of the many employees of Abstergo Industries, and we get trained inside the Animus. Your goal is to find and assassinate (so don’t just run and stab your victim) your target. But beware, you are hunted to, and any suspicious movement might cause your Assassin to find and kill you. Of course there are ways to prevent him (or her, there are some beautiful, but lethal women in there too) from killing you. One of those is the smoke bomb, which didn’t work for me most of the time, as they would still assassinate me. And another unfair and unbalanced way of killing is poison. If you poison someone, nobody else notices you, so you won’t be assassinated by your assassin. This seems nice, but it’s also unfair, since you also get 700 points standard. My experience is that whenever there is poison in the game, that person wins, and that’s just unfair. Luckily, Ubisoft gets enough time to think these little mistakes through, as they are working on the new game in the franchise: Assassins Creed: Revelations, which will see the return of Altaïr and Ezio, just as Desmond. Revelations will also be released on the 15th of November 2011.
One nice extra thing to know, is that nearly all the characters of the Assassins Creed franchise did really exist. Even Ezio really existed… Oh, I would have loved to meet him… And walk away alive….
